Sunday Post

Happy Father’s Day to all the wonderful Dads out there!

I’m excited to be picking my husband up at the airport today!  He’s just getting back from a couple of days of training in Baltimore.  My sons will be happy to have him back.  They’ve had to put up with my cooking for almost a whole week!

Of course, we’re going to have hubby’s favourite meal, fried chicken.  It’s something we don’t have very often, so it will be a treat.  And my own mom and dad will be coming over, too, so should be fun!

What about you?  Any plans for Father’s Day?

Sunday Post is a weekly meme hosted @ Caffeinated Book Reviewer. It’s a chance to share news~ A post to recap the past week on your blog and showcase books and things we have received. Share news about what is coming up on our blog for the week ahead.

It was an amazing week here at Inspiration Pie! I more than doubled my followers here and I want to thank each and everyone of you!  I do a little happy dance when someone is interested enough to follow my posts 🙂 Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

This Week On The Blog

Tags and Awards:

I love getting tags and awards and I’m highlighting them here not to brag or anything like that, or show how popular I am.  That’s just not me lol.  But I do feel honoured that these blogs thought enough of me to tag me to participate and that makes me happy!

I’d love it if you’d check out some of the blogs that I’ve tagged, and those that have tagged me because they’re awesome, entertaining and have wonderful things to contribute.

Here they are, go ahead and check them out!  Click on the links to see the list of blogs that I tagged for the award.

I only did one Daily Walk post this week.  Have a peek at some of the photos here.

Book Beginnings and the Friday 56  was fun.  I featured the Seventh Crow by Sherry D. Ramsey.

I reposted a blog post from Mind Elate called Six Simple Steps to Help Find Your Passion.  She has excellent posts on psychology, the human mind, the soul and connecting with people on a deeper level. I hope you will take the time to check out her blog.

What I’ve Been Reading

I’ve been slowly reading Stephen King’s On Writing.  I’m really enjoying it…I love King’s style of writing.  His writing  is so easy, so natural, as thought he’s just having a conversation with you.  That takes true writing talent.

I’ve just received a new ARC from Hal Archer that will be released on June 27 called Forced Vengeance.  The Jake Mudd series is a well written, entertaining and fun sci-fi series and I’m excited to start 🙂

Off the Blog

I saw WonderWoman…what an incredible movie! I don’t want to say too  much, I hate when all the hype raises your expectations and then when you finally see the movie you are disappointed.

I loved Wonder Woman as a kid.  Who didn’t try to spin aroundand turn into a superhero?!  Great memories!

Writing

I spent a fair bit of time polishing off a short story that I’ve been working on, mostly revising it.  I’m hoping this week to have some beta readers have a look at it and get thoughts as to whether its any good or not.  Let me know if you are interested.

WordPress

For some reason, and I suspect its something I’ve done  and not actually WordPress itself, but I’m having another issue with people not getting my posts.  I’m self hosted so I was having conflicts with the community based WordPress.com.  Some features that are used there don’t work on the self-hosted sites.

Some were saying my posts were showing up in e-mails but not in the Reader.  Others don’t see my posts at all and have to go looking for them.  I’m curious to know how you came here to read this…was it in your email or on your reader?

Okay, all!  Thanks for stopping by and reading and I hope you have a great week!

  1. Happy Father’s Day to your hubby and dad! I hope they have a wonderful day!! Congrats on the followers You are pretty amazing!!

I cannot wait to see Wonder Woman! I used to pretend to be her when I was small…when I wasn’t pretending to be Hulk, lol (don’t ask)! My daughter’s party was Wonder Woman themed yesterday, well sorta, the cake was, but we couldn’t find decorations just WE, so had to do DC girls with Batgirl and Supergirl too, which was fun too!

Ok, I got an email that you had a new post, so I came to read It! I just scrolled through Reader after reading about your issue, and no, your post isn’t showing up there…at least not on my end I hope that helps you try and figure out what is going on! I was wondering why I wasn’t seeing your posts the past few days!

    1. Thank you, Stephanie! That’s hilarious that you pretended to be Hulk!
Oh, your daughter’s party must have been adorable! That’s so fun! My boys don’t have themed parties anymore 😦 They grow up so fast!
Thanks for letting me know about the Reader. Interesting…I’ll have to check into that.

      1. Oh, You are welcome!
Hahaha! I used to love to watch the old tv show, which now I think is terribly cheesy! But, one time I took a green marker, I think I was almost 4 years old, and colored myself green on my arms and face, LOL! My dad almost had a stroke. Crayola was not washable then, so they had to scrub me! I think I was green-tinged for days!

Oh, her party was cute! And she got the Wonder Woman and Batgirl dolls and lego; she is in Heaven right now 🙂 No, mine don’t do themed parties either. I think they stopped by age 10! I told her last night she had to stay 7, and she thinks I’m crazy….I do wish I could slow down time though!
You’re welcome! I hope you figure it out! Maybe it is just me not being able to see you…

      2. I’m cracking up laughing here! On your face too?! Bahahaa! Not fun getting THAT off!

They are so cute at that age. And they want to grow up so fast. sigh Glad she had and awesome day 🙂

Avelina mentioned the jetpack plug in and I think she’s right. Not that long ago, I removed it from the site and started fresh with a new one and my newer followers are seeing it in the Reader. I think.

      3. Lol It’s hysterical!! Of course, I probably wouldn’t laugh if it had been my own kid, lol!!! I remember my dad was so mad…

She did have a wonderful day!! She’s still floating on cloud 9 with all her gifts Oh, she’s still such a momma’s girl..she is so attached to me. She wants to grow up but wants to be with me every minute, lol.

I hope you fixed the issue! I got an email from your blog site today but haven’t had a chance to look at Reader except very briefly.

  2. Hey, does your man also cook for the house? Mine does 🙂 if I cook it’s like an occasion 😀 😀
Also, if it’s Reader problems you’re getting, then you should check the Jetpack plugin. That’s the one that manages that posts show up for the people who follow you in the reader. Ah the “pleasures” of being self-hosted :/

    1. Uh, yeah..I’m a terrible cook! lol He does great on the grill. It’s his thing 🙂 (thank God!)
Thanks for the tip on Jetpack! It has caused me a few problems already that I had to sort out, but more because I just was misunderstanding what it does and doesn’t do on self hosted.
I deleted the wordpress button on my site, then started fresh with a new one. I’m getting some feedback here that they are seeing me in the reader, which is great. Seems to be my newest followers that are seeing it. That leads me to believe that the old button was screwy.
Slowly getting there! Have a great week 🙂

      1. Fixed it now 😀 but yeah, there were some issues at one point when we were fixing my theme. Since I’m not smart in these things, I have no clue why that was, actually 😀

      2. Oh dear. Frustrating! My son is a phenom when it comes to coding but he won’t touch WordPress. In fact, when they had to do a project in college on WordPress, he stripped the code and wrote his own. sigh so even though he’s brilliant, he’s no help to me with this stuff lol

      3. 😀 man! That’s pretty unlucky for you 😀 I had to ask a friend. Several of them, in fact. Oh well, we can’t do everything ourselves. Can’t be good at everything, I mean.

  3. Sounds like a wonderful father’s day! Glad your husband is coming back. Life is always so much harder when you’re used to two – especially when the other one does the bulk of the cooking! Congratulations on the follower count. It always makes my day to get a new follower too!

  4. How wonderful that your husband got home in time for his special day. I hope you all have a lovely time and enjoy that yummy chicken! I loved the Wonder Woman show and Linda Carter. Hearing good things about the new movie and will eventually go see it. Binging some shows on Netflix has left me scrambling to get posted ahead. LOL

  5. I have heard a lot of good things about Wonder Woman. I have not seen it, but will probably watch it when it is on cable. Every time I go to the movies, I fall asleep as soon as they turn out the lights. It’s a struggle.

I have’t read any of Stephen Kings books yet but want to start. Any suggestions on what books I should look into to start off with?

    Happy reading!!

    1. Hi Chloe! So glad you stopped by 🙂 We had a great time.

As far as Stephen King, I’m no expert, that’s for sure. I’ve read Mr. Mercedes, that was about a killer who drives down a group of people waiting in a lineup up. Just realizing the sad familiarity of what I just wrote there.
Desperation is another one I’ve read about a cop in a desert town who goes on a bizarre rampage. That was really well done.
So with his book, On Writing, it’s mainly a bio, his life story and his obstacles that he’s overcome. He has tons of writing tips, so if you are interested in writing at all, you’d enjoy it.
He mentions that his first book is Carrie, so I think that is probably the next book I want to tackle. I’ve heard The Stand and It are also excellent, they are HUGE books, too, so a bit of a time commitment.
Wow, I think I almost wrote a novel just replying to you! Ha!!

Oh, the book tag! Sometimes they take a while to get your head around some good answers. It takes me forever to get them done, it seems. No worries 🙂

    Congrats on doubling your followers!

I am considering going to see Wonder Woman. A friend of mine loved it, and she’s my age, so that tells me it isn’t just for the kids.

Enjoy your week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

Try unsubscribing and then resubscribing. I’m hoping that will fix the reader issue. Recent followers are saying they see my posts in the Reader.
